In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing specific operations within the department, ensuring that contract requirements are met, resources are used effectively, and target results are achieved. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing plans and procedures that drive profitable and sustainable growth of all contracts. You will also ensure the successful delivery of business plans, manage return on assets, and oversee cash flow requirements. **Key Responsibilities:** * Manage assigned contract to ensure performance meets customer expectations regarding quality and timelines. * Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including special conditions and specifications, while manging variations effectively * Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders * Ensure contract methodology, budgets, and programmes align with tendered outcomes, including margins, quality, and timelines. * Identify and mitigate business risks, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company standards. * Promote a culture of Zero Harm through operational excellence and leading by example. **Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills** The ideal candidate for this position will have a strategic mindset, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering high quality results, you will also have: * Tertiary qualification in engineering, project management, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience) * BE or NZCE qualifications with 5+ years of project management/engineering experience * Ability to interpret and leverage SOR/contract documents for optimal contract outcomes * Understanding of financial and accounting processes, including preparation of progress and claim reports * Strategic thinker with the ability to plan and execute long-term goals while addressing immediate operational needs * Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards, with a commitment to Zero Harm practices **Ko te take ka parekareka e koe ki te mahi ki kōnei | Why you will enjoy working here** Downer is committed to delivering excellence by ensuring our people have the environment and the means to be successful. What We’re Looking For • Proven project management experience in construction, electrical, engineering, mechanical or building services. • Successful track record in delivering projects of varying size and complexity. • Strong knowledge of EHS practices and quality assurance standards. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. • Financial acumen – including forecasting, budgets, quoting, and invoicing. • Computer literacy (MS Office essential; project software, Ground Plan, Simpro experience an advantage). • Formal project management certification (e.g. PMP, CAPM, PRINCE2, NZIOB) – advantageous but not essential. • Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop others.
