Visit https://causeandfx.nz THIS OPPORTUNITY: As a Lead Compositing Artist, you won’t just execute stunning visual effects, you’ll lead a team of talented compositors, shaping workflows, mentoring artists, and ensuring the highest quality shots are delivered on time. Your leadership will drive both technical excellence and a positive, high-performing team culture. Requirements WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Leading & Mentoring: Guide and inspire a team of compositors, overseeing projects and sequences while fostering a collaborative work environment. Look Development & Style Setting: Establish the creative direction, creating templates, tools, and workflows that optimize efficiency. Complex Compositing: Execute some of the most challenging shots, seamlessly integrating 3D elements into live-action footage. Collaboration & Feedback: Work closely with VFX Supervisors, 3D Leads, and Department Heads to maintain creative and technical consistency. Technical Problem-Solving: Drive solutions to maintain high-quality work while meeting deadlines. Bidding & Planning: Support project estimates and VFX methodologies to ensure accurate scheduling and delivery. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR 7+ years of compositing experience in live-action film or episodic projects. Proven leadership experience – Ability to mentor, motivate, and guide artists to deliver their best work. Mastery of Nuke – Strong knowledge of compositing workflows, including Gizmos and Groups.  3D Integration Expertise – Seamlessly blend CG elements with live-action footage. Strong Artistic Eye – Attention to detail and the ability to interpret and implement feedback effectively.  Technical Knowledge – Bonus if you have experience with Python scripting, digital matte painting, texture painting, or paint/roto work.  3D Workflow Experience – Familiarity with Maya, Houdini, ZBrush, Redshift, Karma/Solaris, and emerging technologies like AI is a plus. Clear Communicator & Team Player – Strong ability to communicate with artists, supervisors, and production, ensuring smooth project execution.
