**Ko te take ka parekareka e koe ki te mahi ki kōnei | Why you will enjoy working here** Downer is committed to delivering excellence by ensuring our people have the environment and the means to be successful.  We also offer: * Based in Wellington - $30 - $35 p/h * Permanent Full Time - 40 Hours per week. * Free access to Marram health care benefits and discounted holiday homes. * Discounts for Samsung, Repco, PB Tech, Gym memberships and more! * $500 bonus for current employees who refer a friend to Downer **Te** **kōwhiringa | The Opportunity**  The Excavator Operator is responsible for ensuring specialist plant and equipment which they are assigned to operate is presented, serviced, maintained and operated in a professional, safe and efficient manner, that complies with all relevant legislation, regulation and policy and achieves agreed productivity and quality targets. **Operating Plant and Equipment:** * Ensure pre-start checks and daily moisture contents are carried out. * Check the plant, equipment and environs for hazards and manage same to maintain a safe work place. * Ensure plant and equipment is started, operated correctly, safely and all accuracies are maintained. * Operate the plant and equipment in a correct and safe manner. * Ensure plant is operated with consideration to the environment minimizing emissions of dust, gases and hydrocarbons. * Work hands-on as part of the production team. * Ensure equipment and yard is left clean and safe at the end of each shift. * Reduce all forms of waste. * Operates heavy excavation plant to excavate, move and load earth, rock and rubble preparing and positioning plant for operation * selecting, fitting and removing attachments such as buckets, winches, loading scoops, shovel blades and rock breaking hammers * operating controls to excavate, break, drill, level, compact, gouge out, move, load and spread earth, rock, rubble, soil and other material **Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills** **Requirements for the role:** * Full Class 2 License with WTR endorsements. * At least 3 years of relevant experience OR an NZQF Level 4 Qualification (Skilled work experience can replace a formal qualification) **Key attributes that are beneficial for the role:** * Physically fit * Demonstrated interest/experience in work that crew is involved in * Keen and willing to learn * Able to problem solve * Team player; works easily with others * Motivated to do a good job; reliable with a good work ethic * Able to communicate with others; effective listening skills * Keen to contribute to the team goals; self-starter and goal orientated **Ko wai mātou | Our Organisation** Want to know more about what it is like to work at Downer?
