Korero mo te turanga - About the role Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Kaiakiaki - Maori Engagement Adviser to join the Awhina - Maori Student Support team on a permanent, full-time basis. This position will be supporting tauira Maori studying in Te Wahanga Aronui - Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and will be based in the Living Pa. The Awhina team is a key part of the on-campus support whanau for tauira Maori that encourages cultural confidence and academic success. Key responsibilities include the following: * Student support and engagement * Event planning and delivery * Cultural support * Teamwork and relationship building O pumanawa - About you This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting Maori students during their educational journey. You will: * be comfortable working with Maori students from diverse backgrounds * provide one on one support and advice * organise and deliver workshops and events * be advocating for Maori student as necessary * be a highly organised, innovative, and self-motivated person * have proven experience of collaboration and communication across diverse cohorts * be a team player who thrives in a busy environment.
