An exciting opportunity is available for a part-time Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Auckland’s 126-bedroom hotel, SOHO. Inspired by art deco fused with contemporary comfort for the ultimate urban escape, SOHO is located in Mount Roskill, just 15 minutes from the CBD. We are looking for an enthusiastic Maintenance Assistant to join our Maintenance team. This is a part-time, permanent position. With a minimum of 16 hours a week. The Maintenance Assistant will assist the Maintenance Manager to carry out maintenance operations within the hotel, ensuring that all facilities are well-maintained, functional, well presented and safe for guests and staff. Responsibilities: - Carry out the maintenance and repair of all hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and basic equipment repair. - To work as a team with the Maintenance Manager to ensure that all areas of the hotel are well presented, safe and well maintained. - To work with the Maintenance Manager on preventive maintenance programs to minimise downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment and facilities. - Respond promptly to maintenance requests and issues, ensuring timely resolution to maintain guest satisfaction. - Ensure compliance with local, state, and regulations related to building codes, safety standards, and environmental laws. - Assist with regular safety inspections and audits, addressing any issues promptly to ensure a safe environment for guests and staff. Requirements of the role include: • Previous experience in a handyman/maintenance role in a hotel is preferred • Honesty and the ability to work well in a team environment.
