* $38 wages or $50 contract * Work with award-winning tradies * Residential & commercial projects About The Role Max People are seeking skilled Brick & Block Layers for permanent roles with our client, an award-winning team specialising in high-quality brick and block laying across Christchurch. Wages * $38 per hour on wages * $50 per hour on contract (Negotiated based on experience and attitude) Location Christchurch What's In It For You * Top pay rates: $38 wages / $50 contract * Award-winning Canterbury team * Residential & commercial project mix * Upskilling and career progression encouraged * Supportive crew and steady work What You Will Be Doing * Setting out work areas and laying foundations accurately * Measuring, cutting, and laying bricks/blocks level and plumb * Mixing, applying, and finishing mortar correctly * Building walls, partitions, arches, and decorative features * Carrying out joint finishing (striking, weathering, pointing) * Repairing and restoring brick/block structures * Reading and interpreting building plans and specs * Supporting safe work practices on every site What We Require * Minimum 2 years' experience laying bricks or blocks * Ideally 3+ years' experience (apprenticeship or on-site learning) * Must be able to lay level and plumb * Own hand tools required * Ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications * Understanding of NZ Building Code and relevant standards * Current NZ driver's licence & reliable transport * NZ residency or valid NZ work visa * Valid Site Safe (preferred - we can assist) * Must pass a drug test & MOJ check * Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and in a team ALL APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT TO WORK IN NEW ZEALAND Why Choose Max People?
