Aero Leathers Vintage Motorcycle Jacket Genuine steerhide with wool blanket lining, and original makers label. In excellent vintage condition 1950s or 1940s design. Size 48 Measures done up: Pit to pit 59cm Shoulder to cuff 63cm 24.5” Back length (from bottom of collar) 67cm 26.5” Shoulder to shoulder 55cm 21” Weight 2.82kg 6.22lb Aero Leathers manufactured in Scotland. The jacket was bought preloved in Italy over 20 years ago. Although we are not able to certify the year we have researched this jacket by going on these sites: aeroleatherclothing.com and Thurston-bros.com. Aero jackets of older vintage were crafted from Connolly steerhide, which was known for its supple yet tough leather and its unique rose-tanned process - as this one is made from genuine steerhide, we assume it’s an older model. Similar to the Indian Ranger, King of the Road, and Highwayman models. The style of this jacket has a vintage 1950’s fit. According to the Aero website this means a "relaxed fit around the shoulders and chest and a strong taper to the waist". Inspired by Marlon Brando's jacket in 'The Wild One' it features two deep, zipped hand-warmer pockets, a deep breast pocket with zip and a small stud-down ticket pocket. The epaulettes on the shoulders are gone and there are a couple tiny marks (not visible until close up) where they were. The front fastening is with a cross zip and there are zipped cuffs for adjustability. There is also a half-belt at the front to make the waist tight. This particular jacket is lined in wool for extra warmth. Aero jackets are traditionally hand-cut and individually crafted by skilled artisans, ensuring high quality and attention to detail in their construction. As can been seen in the pictures the jacket is in excellent vintage condition and is sold as-seen and as-is. There are minor small nicks on the collar where the epaulettes were, but they’re not deep and does not affect the function or aesthetic in any way. Aero leather jackets are custom made and this is no exception.
