About the role: As a Kitchen Assistant for our Rototuna village, you’ll be at the heart of our kitchen’s day-to-day operations. Your support will help ensure our chefs can deliver nutritious, high-quality meals to our residents and visitors. From assisting with food prep to keeping the kitchen clean and organised, you’ll make a big difference behind the scenes – and you’ll be appreciated for it. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: - Assisting with basic food preparation such as peeling, chopping and portioning - Helping with plating and presentation of meals - Operating dishwashers and ensuring all kitchenware is properly sanitised - Keeping kitchen areas clean, organised, and compliant - Helping to receive, unpack and store deliveries, including stock rotation Your role will be varied and rewarding and your efforts will directly contribute to the wellbeing and enjoyment of our residents and their families. This is a casual role. Working on an as and when basis. About you: You’re approachable, reliable, and a team player with a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to contribute to a high-performing kitchen. This is a Full Time fixed term starting late September and ending Late April with an opportunity to move to another hotel within the group at the end of the season. Skills and Responsibilities: • Prepare and execute a variety of dishes according to the menu specifications and standards set by the Head Chef. • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines. • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and seasonal specials. • Contribute to inventory management and ordering of ingredients to ensure freshness and availability. • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. • Understanding of current Health & Safety obligations, ensuring the Kitchen is fully compliant to the SOP's, Policies, procedures, and service standards. • Exhibit a passion for culinary excellence and a commitment to continuous improvement. Experience: • Hotel Industry knowledge an advantage. • Proven experience as a CDP in a similar role. • Candidate must have working rights in NZ or Current Visa.
