The Downer team are looking for an ambitious and motivated Leading Hand based in Wellington. You'll be leading your crew doing routine maintenance works. This role comes with a variety of projects, so no two days will be the same. Reporting to the Supervisor, you'll be setting up sites and running the team through general scopes of projects with a focus on safety and quality. This 'hands on' role will require you to provide leadership by planning, providing direction and controlling activities whilst working alongside the team in the field! As Leading Hand your key duties will include: * Using your knowledge and experience of the industry to provide effective solutions to your team and customers * Managing workload allocation and planning forward work * Liaising between management and staff on the ground * Driving service delivery and quality to ensure KPI's are met Please note that this role will include some night and early morning shifts, so flexibility with working hours is essential **Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills** Along with your civil experience as a Leading Hand there are a few essentials to what we are looking for. * A proven track record of supervising teams and subcontractors in a range of maintenance/construction activities * A focus and passion for keeping people and the environment safe * Demonstrated leadership behaviours that empower others * Strong problem-solving skills * Class 2 Licence required, WTR beneficial but not required * Operator experience on small machines * Clear communication skills with the ability to build rapport with stakeholders and easily chat with your crew **Ko wai mātou | Our Organisation** Want to know more about what it is like to work at Downer?
