The company: A long-established and reputable sheet metal fabrication company is seeking a skilled Estimator to join their team on a temporary basis with the possibility to go permanent. With decades of experience delivering high-quality architectural and structural metalwork, their work spans residential, commercial, and industrial sectors across the Auckland region. The role: This role is perfect for someone with a background in fabrication or manufacturing who enjoys working with numbers, reviewing technical drawings, and pricing bespoke metalwork projects. You'll be responsible for preparing accurate, timely estimates and collaborating with both internal teams and clients to ensure projects run smoothly and profitably. Key responibilities: - Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project briefs. - Perform accurate take-offs for materials, labour, and subcontracted work. - Liaise with suppliers to obtain up-to-date pricing. - Produce and submit detailed estimates, quotes, and tenders. - Track and record job costs and variations. - Collaborate with project and workshop teams to ensure accuracy and feasibility. What you'll need: - Estimating experience in sheet metal or related fabrication industries. - Strong ability to interpret CAD and engineering drawings. - Sound knowledge of metal types and fabrication methods. - Proficiency with Excel; estimating software experience is a bonus. - Good communication skills and a high attention to detail.
