This role offers the opportunity to contribute to major national projects, learn the contracting business, and play a key part in delivering automation solutions across Transport and Infrastructure. You will be responsible for project automation delivery, contract support, and technical leadership-ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while meeting quality and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities: * Develop and implement daily and monthly work plans aligned with Downer's delivery framework * Undertake PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming, integration, and commissioning * Build strong relationships with clients, councils and suppliers * Support the Contract Manager with tender preparation, proposals, and bid submissions * Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and automation improvements * Prepare and maintain accurate documentation including testing, commissioning, and as-builts * Lead safety initiatives including audits, toolbox talks, and hazard identification **Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills** To be successful in this role you will bring with you: * Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or Control Systems Engineering (or equivalent) * Current Electrical Practising License (or eligibility for NZ registration) * Strong knowledge of PLC programming (IEC 61131-3, ladder logic, function block, structured text) * Proficiency in SCADA/HMI systems, instrumentation, industrial networks, and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA) * Project management capability in planning, cost control, risk, and procurement * Previous experience in tendering, procurement, and supplier engagement * Strong technical, analytical, and problem solving skills **Ko wai mātou | Our Organisation** Want to know more about what it is like to work at Downer?
