The role As a Design Estimator at Northpower, you'll be right at the heart of things, working on design, pricing, planning, and tendering to meet our customer's needs and help drive the success of the business. You'll be collaborating with the Design Estimation Manager and the team to bring everything together and make sure our projects run smoothly. We are looking for a Design Estimator based in New Plymouth. The key responsibilities for the Design Estimator position include: - Design Overhead and Underground Network according to customer specifications and regulatory requirements - Ensure compliance with Northpower, customer, and regulatory standards - Achieve customer satisfaction and generate compliance reports - Provide pricing for network and customer-initiated works - Plan the delivery of primary works - Prepare and negotiate tender and contract documentation - Effectively hand over projects to Project Managers - Document project information accurately - Produce CAD construction and as-built drawings to customer standards - Provide CAD drafting services and update network drawings - Capture GPS data for design and as-built purposes.- What's in it for you? About you We're on the lookout for an experienced Design Estimator with a solid background in the Electrical Distribution Network sector. If you've got a proven track record in design, estimation, and project planning, we'd love to hear from you! To succeed in this role, you'll bring some (or all) of the following skills and experience: - A BE in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or an Electrical Diploma - A clean Class 1 driver's license - At least 5 years of experience in electrical distribution or transmission design - Knowledge of Zone substation switchgear, Network HV/LV infrastructure, overhead and underground services, network reinforcements, and electricity supply distribution for - new subdivisions - Strong organizational and planning skills - A solid commitment to HSQE standards, proactive safety culture, and Safety by Design principles - Great interpersonal skills, ideally in a multi-cultural environment - Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Integrity, consistency, and the ability to stay composed under pressure - The ability to motivate, influence, and maintain a strong customer focus About us Northpower is an electricity and fibre network provider for Whangarei and Kaipara, with more than 60,000 connected customers.
