We're looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join a well-established contractor in the Kapiti Coast area. This family-owned business has a growing fleet of machinery and takes pride in its strong team culture and supportive work environment. You'll be working across a wide variety of vehicles and equipment, including excavators, dump trucks, drill rigs, graders, and more. The role offers both workshop-based and field repair work, with plenty of opportunities to grow your skills on a diverse range of machinery. Reporting directly to the Directors / Workshop Hands on Manager some of your responsibilities include: • Maintenance of farm machinery to a high standard. • Self-management to ensure completion of prioritized tasks. • Planning of the farms upcoming machinery needs to ensure a smooth operation through different stages of the yearly cycle. • Fabrication of different machinery and parts. • Occasional work outside normal hours to deal with break downs and busy periods. To be successful in this role you will be a qualified heavy diesel automotive engineer with a stand in agricultural equipment level 3 and 4. You will also have strong farming knowledge and be able to adapt to the changing pressures of the farm. Additionally, a welding certificate would be beneficial for this position. Experience of management will also be highly regarded. The successful candidate will be level-headed and reliable whilst having the ability to adapt to changing circumstances whilst working autonomously. They will also have a strong business mind and understanding of cost management. The ideal applicant will have a minimum 3 years relevant experience in the industry, be reliable and able to work well within a team.
