It has developed into a vastly successful operation with a variety of crops being grown over its 1000 hectares of land including a range of vegetables as well as grains. The modern facilities of the farm also include an onion packhouse, potato store, carrot wash and workshop in addition to state of the art machinery. Lovett Family Farms is seeking an Agricultural Diesel Motor Mechanic to join their company in Ashburton, NZ. The primary purpose of this position is maintaining farm machinery. Reporting directly to the Directors / Workshop Hands on Manager some of your responsibilities include: • Maintenance of farm machinery to a high standard. • Self-management to ensure completion of prioritized tasks. • Planning of the farms upcoming machinery needs to ensure a smooth operation through different stages of the yearly cycle. • Fabrication of different machinery and parts. • Occasional work outside normal hours to deal with break downs and busy periods. To be successful in this role you will be a qualified heavy diesel automotive engineer with a stand in agricultural equipment level 3 and 4. You will also have strong farming knowledge and be able to adapt to the changing pressures of the farm. Additionally, a welding certificate would be beneficial for this position. Experience of management will also be highly regarded. The successful candidate will be level-headed and reliable whilst having the ability to adapt to changing circumstances whilst working autonomously. They will also have a strong business mind and understanding of cost management. The ideal applicant will have a minimum 3 years relevant experience in the industry, be reliable and able to work well within a team. Other requirements - Must hold a current driver‘s license, restricted minimum - Be willing to undergo a drug test. - Be willing to undergo a security check. - Be physically fit and able to carry out tasks required of role.

Some of the tasks are: *Repair and maintain the hydraulic components of large mining equipment *Diagnose, overhaul, repair, tune, maintain and test diesel powered heavy equipment including trucks, dozers, and other earth moving equipment *Communicate any safety or maintenance issues to the supervisor Skills & Requirements: *Trade qualification in Heavy plant AUS/NZ Recognised Trade Certificate *Experience in OEM mobile plant – *CAT Haul trucks 740, 777 *Water cart CAT 773 *CAT D6 D8 D9 Dozers *CAT 16M Grader *CAT 966, 980 Loaders*Komatsu, CAT, Hitachi, Volvo excavators (PC1800, 1900, 1250, 336, EC750) *Outstanding troubleshooting / diagnostic skills *Ability to read schematics *Previous experience conducting component change-outs / breakdowns and fault finding *Valid and relevant Driver's Licences *Sourcing technical information from available reference manuals, OEM, and computer- based systems *Ability to work autonomously *Be a team player *100% commitment to safety, quality, and best practice at all times.
