Hamilton location, based in the Waitomo area Full time role with minimum 30 hours guaranteed per week $35 - $40 per hour based on experience Waitomo Adventures Limited is the home of the phenomenal Lost World; Haggas Honking Holes; St Benedict’s Caverns; and others. If you’re successful, you will be stepping into a tight team; a professional but relaxed family-style company that has been operated by the founder for over 37 years. We were the first serious-adventure company to run out of Waitomo, innovative; boundary stretching and with a wicked sense of humour. Some of our guides have been with us for 20 plus years. We take our job very seriously; giving people life changing experiences and ensuring their safety is paramount every day. Health and Safety is super important; there is pre-employment and ongoing drug testing so only apply if you know you will pass this on an ongoing basis. Duties Include: • Meeting and greeting tour groups at commencement of each session • Clearly explaining to tour groups the correct and safe use of all equipment involved throughout the participation of all elements of the outdoor adventure • Supervising and guiding the tour groups and activities, including abseiling, rope ascending, ziplines, rock climbing, blackwater rafting • Rigging and operating rope access and rescue systems in accordance with best industry practice • Ensuring that all guiding equipment is up to safety standards and in good working order • Provide training for junior guides • Manage or support cave rescue training exercises • Reporting daily events including any incidents at close of each day Experience: • Prior experience is essential • This is a senior position for an individual with proven competencies in adventure tourism – especially height safety • At least two years of relevant work experience in the Adventure Caving Tourism industry is required • Height safety endorsement / certification, or similar • Full New Zealand Driver Licence or overseas equivalent with the ability to obtain a passenger endorsement as our caves are located within 30km of our base • Manual driving experience required • Good personal hygiene given the customer-facing role and close proximity of persons during the guiding sessions How to Apply: Check out our videos and website www.waitomo.co.nz to see if you think you would be a good fit.
