An opportunity for qualified or experienced Senior Panel Technician to bring their experience & attention to detail to our Waterloo Quay branch located at 89 Waterloo Quay Wellington. Selfstarting and leadership skills are helpful for this role to assist everyone with keeping a smooth workflow through the shop. This is not an entry level position. From time to time we do take on apprentices, contact us to find out when we may next be doing so. • Good communication skills and a keen eye for detail • Can recognise the value of following direction and being coached to succeed Earn top wages negotiable based on skills and experience. This means the remuneration is attractive or comparable with market value. It does NOT mean underpaid or cheap. Current salary bands are between $35-$40. This is weighted by experience and the ability to achieve units to quality standards. Main Duties - Works with team Lead and Manager. - Complete all repair assignments according to the methods and objectives outlined in the Panel Shop Procedures policy. - At the least provide all the required tools and equipment outlined in the Panel Technician’s Mobile Tool Cart & Tool Inventory policy. - Inspect every vehicle as it is handed over to your department to ensure that it has passed all previous inspections and standards. Read the entire Work Order thoroughly and visually inspect the vehicle to check that all the repairs listed are complete. Give extra attention to any special promises or notes, and if any discrepancies are found notify the appropriate person immediately. - Immediately make note and notify the appropriate person of any hidden or missed damage that doesn’t appear on the Work Order. - Protect the customer’s car to prevent damage during the repairs. This includes but is not limited to the use of seat bags, floor mats, car covers, welding blankets, masking paper, or any other practical method to ensure positive results. - If the job assigned requires that you replace any parts, ALWAYS check all the parts for correctness before starting the repair and notify the appropriate person of any incorrect parts or other discrepancies. - Be responsible and accountable for all parts for any jobs that are assigned to you. Be organized and develop a system for holdings the parts and fasteners until they are installed or re-installed on the vehicle. - All straightening and repairs should be done according to factory specifications, including door, hood, and deck alignments, chassis and frame measurements, welded-on unibody parts, etc. - Apply undercoating, gravel guard, seam sealer, and lubricants as the need presents itself or as listed on the Work Order. - All repairs and painted parts should be completed to the point of "ready for paint" prior to delivering the vehicle to the paint department. - After painting, re-assembly, headlight adjustment, and other final alignments and adjustments prior to the car being delivered should be performed. - Inspect your work and that of others to ensure that the vehicle is delivered with a fit and finish equal or superior to the original factory fit and finish. - Use expendable materials economically taking care to save/reuse clean abrasive materials that have further useable life where practical to minimise environmental footprint. - Ensure waste separated into the appropriate bins provided. - Maintain your departments work area in a clean and hazard free state at all times. - Remain conscious of, and make every effort to achieve, the objectives outlined on the delivery list of cars scheduled. Sometimes this requires working overtime to meet the objectives. - Upon completion of a job or nearing completion of a job, advise the production manager and request a new assignment. - Maintain a good work attitude and cooperate with managers and fellow employees in a positive spirit of teamwork.
