The SL3's were an outstanding loudspeaker at their introduction to the USA market , still are. This pair dates back to about late 90's , bought new from Absolute Audio & Vision, one owner only, me. The NZD exchange rate to USD was extremely low at the time so to buy then worked out at about NZD8900 for the pair. There are no contemporary speakers made by ML equivalent to the SL3's. Until you hear or know from experience how these speakers sound, in one word, spectacular. They have a massive soundstage, fast bass, wonderful depth and transparency. Suit all music, but these are not 'party' speakers. They go loud but with proviso's, ie: they demand a good amplifier of at least 100 - 300 W. And outstanding with valve gear (with which they've been driven all their lives via VAC KT88 mono blocks. Wired up in either shotgun (4) or bi-wired (2) arrangements, either for variable sonic benefits. From Google an AI overview - "The MartinLogan SL3 speakers are known for their ability to create a realistic, three-dimensional soundstage. Reviews highlight their rich and harmonically accurate midrange, detailed sound, and non-fatiguing listening experience. The SL3's electrostatic panels are praised for delivering a smooth and distortion-free sound, while the woofer provides deep and well-controlled bass." I have the original boxes, the manual, floor spikes, have the lot in other words. Heaps of reviews, for starters - https://www.stereophile.com/floorloudspeakers/145/index.html https://www.stereophile.com/content/martinlogan-sl3-loudspeaker-page-3 This a most reluctant sale. So don't expect a bargain price.
