Richardson Racing Stables based in Matamata is looking for a Permanent Trackwork Rider. This is a Physically demanding position and Key requirements of the role include: • Ride 7-10 horses per morning including pace/fast work and jump outs. • Carry out washing down process of bloodstock once worked. • Train (educating) and ride thoroughbred horses to become accustomed to being ridden at the track, both slow and fast work. • Train (educating) and ride young thoroughbred horses to become accustomed to being ridden in groups of horses during their career in racing. • Train (educating) thoroughbred horses to respond to oral, leg and rein commands. • Discuss with the racehorse trainer each horse's performance and any concerns with the fitness or training of the horse after each ride You will have a minimum of 4 years full time professional experience in the role, proven and excellent horsemanship skills with the ability to ride pace/timed fast work and jump outs. You will be paid between $25 - $30 per hour for a minimum of 30 hours per week guaranteed (normal week is 40 hours).
