Byerley Park's Kingseat-based breeding operation, are looking for an experienced/senior level stud hand to start in September. Based 12 minutes from the New Zealand Bloodstock Sales complex, Byerley Park is located in a beautiful rural setting yet close to the Auckland CBD. This is a small team who care for a quality broodmare band, youngstock and spellers and you will be working in collaboration with the current manager. Duties included: *Routine care of horses such as feeding, mucking out *Working with vets and farriers *Reproductive and breeding related tasks with mares *Early stages of yearling preparation *General farm and property maintenance The ideal candidate will have experience working with horses and be able to work independently when required. They must be a team player and be able to bring a positive attitude and work well with others. They should have good observation skills, high attention to detail and a good work ethic. While there will be no foaling down required, applicants should be physically fit and able to take part in foal handling and early education of horses. Skills such as the ability to administer IM and IV injections, bandage and wound care will be required. The successful candidate will have every second weekend off and a rostered afternoon off before their weekend of work. Wages will reflect experience, accommodation can be discussed during interview.
