Tasman Tanning South Island Limited is situated on the outskirts of Timaru. The Tannery plant has an ongoing program of continual improvement and investment. The role will initially be on our dayshift roster starting at 6.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday. Once trained, you may be assigned to alternative shifts. The duties will include the daily operation of the drums which include loading and unloading the drums and vessels, loading chemicals and monitoring the processes. You will also be trained in the stringent safety practices involved in the operation of these vessels along with the correct use and wearing of PPE. The expectations will be to comply with and where necessary enforce company policies and practices currently in place and any new policies/practices that are implemented. We undertake pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing. Our ideal candidate should have: • Previous experience working with Chemicals • Current OSH forklift license preferred • Physically fit and able to lift up to 30kg • Have a good understanding of Health & Safety as well as good manufacturing practices • Be able to work to deadlines and work together as a team. • Attention to detail • Good computer skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Must be self motivated and willing to learn. • Tidy housekeeping skills • Have reliable transport • Working at Heights Certificate preferred, training will be provided • Confined Spaces Certificate preferred, but training will be provided If you meet the majority of the requirements above, we would like to hear from you. We are a 24/7 operation, so the role requires a rotating shift pattern, working 2 x 7am - 7pm, then 2 x 7pm - 7am, then having 4 consecutive days off.  You will be working as a key member of a small team across the area, so attendance at work is critical to ensure the operation is appropriately resourced.  There is some manual handling required on occasion, and you are on your feet for several hours, so a reasonable level of fitness and strength and agility is required. *The Role* In this Bulk Liquids Transport role, you will be responsible for the loading and delivery of bulk liquid chemicals throughout the South Island and be a key interface between IXOM and our customers. Working as part of the Timaru Bulk Liquids Transport team, your work roster for this position is 4 days on and 4 days off, 12-hour shifts, plus OT and allowances (when available) on top of your base salary. As Ixom's customer base covers the length of the South Island, you may be required to stay away some nights during your rostered working days (allowances provided and costs covered) *Skills & Experience* An experienced Class 5 driver. Ideally 2 years' operating at class 5 with ideally Dangerous Goods experience You must be honest, trustworthy and be able to work independently. Someone who is health and safety focused. Has good time management skills and be able to work unsupervised. Understand the HPMV permit system and comply with its conditions. You will need to be able to reverse a B Train or truck and trailer. Are prepared to work and stay away from home. Be a good communicator. Have some mechanical knowledge and be able to use technology with some competence. You will need to be fit and healthy. You will need to be able to pass a medical examination, including a drug and alcohol test pre-employment as well as randomly over time as required. Key Responsibilities: • Plan and manage daily tasks efficiently to meet project timelines and optimize resource use. • Interpret construction plans and collaborate with the Project Manager to implement practical, effective solutions. • Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and management. • Share knowledge with team members. • Maintain accurate daily records, including resource allocation, health and safety updates, and productivity reports. • Operate a variety of heavy machinery (wheeled and tracked), including fitting and removing attachments as required. • Perform general civil construction duties, including lifting, carrying, and site preparation. What we are looking for: Having proven experience in operating machinery and Class 4 Full driver's license with WTR endorsements is essential or even better a class 5 with WTR license endorsements. Physical fitness and self-motivation Ability to work independently and as part of a team. A proactive, safety-conscious approach to work.
