We're seeking a skilled and experienced butcher to join our Home kill and Wild Game Butchery as we expand our operations. Position : Home kill Butcher & on farm Slaughterman Location: Our processing factory is based down the Timaru Port and travel to farms in the mobile abattoir from Oamaru - Twizel - Rakaia *Please do not apply unless you are a New Zealand Resident and a trained skilled butcher, we are unable to assist with work visas and this is not a role for training unfortunately* *Key Responsibilities:* - Bone, slice, and process beef, sheep, pigs and wildgame for customers. - Operating our mobile abattoir on farms processing Cattle and Sheep driving a Class 2 Chiller truck. - Create high-quality smallgoods, such as patties, sausages and salami. - Smoke and cure meats to perfection - Provide excellent customer service and communication - Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and workplace cleanliness - Assist with other butchery tasks as required *Preferred Skills and Qualifications:* - 2+ years of experience in a real butchery environment -Positive attitude and a commitment to high quality workmanship - Fluency in boning and making smallgoods - Class 2 driver's license - Firearms license - Good stock sense and ability to handle animals safely - Excellent customer communication skills - This a physically demanding job for a young keen butcher, Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects (essential for this role!)
