Independent Stevedoring Limited (ISL) is a company engaged in the loading / unloading of ships and related activities to serve our customers at the Port of Tauranga. Straddles carriers have a cab that is 11m from the ground and can carry a payload of 50 Tonne. Our straddle drivers are tasked with stacking and moving containers to and from vessels at the Tauranga terminal, along with servicing incoming and outgoing trucks and trains (R&D). Conditions of employment • Permanent full-time shift work • 12-hour shifts on scheduled nights and days, including weekends • Minimum 32-hour weekly guaranteed pay • Start / Training rate is $27/Hr and can progress to $30 after completion of training within two months. • Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa • In depth training will be provided with our team of dedicated trainers • Additional hourly allowances, including night shift allowance. Key tasks/requirements • Straddle operating experience or experience operating heavy machinery would be advantageous • Minimum Class 1 full NZ license • Attending pre-shift briefings and completing pre-start checks • Driving straddle carriers safely, and in line with SOPs, protocols, and shift instructions • Following in-cab instructions for pick-up and discharging a variety of containers (20’ and 40’) • Ensure you are punctual, and professional in all your interactions with the customer and other service providers • Communicate clearly and concisely via set radio protocols. • Participate actively in Health and Safety matters within the company Key requirements • Provide 2 relevant referees (supervisor, trainer) • Physical fitness Selection process • We will commence our selection process immediately. • Candidates will be pre-screened via a Straddle simulator. • All candidates must be prepared to undergo a pre-employment drug test and regular random drug and alcohol testing.
