7 Gravatt Road, Papamoa Plaza. 3x Indian And Tandoori Cook jobs available. Primary Responsibilities: Prepare a full range of authentic Indian dishes. Skillfully operate and maintain the tandoor oven, ensuring correct temperature control for cooking meats, breads, and kebabs to perfection. Cook a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, maintaining consistency and high quality. Ensure all dishes are presented attractively, garnished appropriately, and delivered in a timely manner, especially during peak service hours. Hygiene, Cleanliness & Kitchen Safety: Maintain clean and hygienic workstations at all times, including preparation areas, cooking equipment, cutting boards, and storage units. Ensure daily cleaning tasks are completed to meet food safety standards, including deep cleaning of tandoor oven, cooking ranges, refrigeration units, and surfaces. Adhere to health and safety regulations including safe food handling, allergen management, and cross-contamination prevention. Stock Management & Inventory Control: Monitor daily stock levels of ingredients such as spices, meats, vegetables, oils, dairy, and specialty items. Keep a record of items running low and promptly notify management to replenish supplies. Conduct regular inventory checks and report any discrepancies or spoilage. Ensure ingredients are labeled, dated, and stored correctly in cool rooms, dry storage, and freezers. Assist in receiving deliveries, checking for quality, quantity, temperature and correct labeling. Team Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other kitchen workers. Assist with training new kitchen staff on food preparation, hygiene practices, and safe kitchen behavior. Communicate clearly about prep times, dish availability, or any delays to ensure a high level of customer service. Report any equipment faults, safety concerns, or kitchen issues promptly to management. Advance experience with cooking South Indian dishes. - dosa, sambar, vadda eg. Along with Momo's, Indian Deserts & Drinks. Skills and Qualifications: Proficient in operating traditional Indian cooking equipment including tandoor ovens. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently reproduce high-quality dishes. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, multiple shifts and public holidays as required. At least 2 years of experience or certificate in level 3 or 4 in cookery as a curry and tandoori cook or similar role and industry. Guaranteed Hours & Pay: Minimum 32 Hours per week. $25-$30 Per Hour depending on experience. Applicants must hold New Zealand Permanent Residency or a valid visa with work rights.
