Job Title: Chef Location: Tauranga, New Zealand Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour (depending on experience) Employer: Satori Sushi & Sake Bar About Us: Satori Sushi & Sake Bar has been a local favourite for over 15 years, serving up a creative and delicious fusion-style sushi menu. We pride ourselves on our high standards, supportive kitchen culture, and commitment to great food and great service. We’re currently looking for an experienced and energetic Sushi Chef to join our team. What We Offer: • A minimum of 30 hours per week, with up to 45 hours during busy periods • Payrate $29.66 per hour (minimum) based on skills and experience • Set rosters released one week in advance • Split lunch and dinner shifts from Tuesday to Sunday • A positive and professional kitchen environment Key Duties and Responsibilities: • Roll sushi quickly and efficiently – 90% of our menu consists of sushi rolls • Competently operate wok, grill, and deep fryer sections • Communicate clearly and positively with kitchen and front-of-house staff • Plan menus and estimate food and labour costs • Order food supplies and maintain inventory • Monitor dish quality at all stages of preparation and service • Train, guide, and supervise junior kitchen staff • Uphold food safety and hygiene standards at all times • Demonstrate cooking techniques and ensure consistency in food presentation What We’re Looking For: • At least 3 years' experience in a general cooking role within a commercial kitchen • Experience rolling sushi in a commercial kitchen • Strong knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety standards • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented attitude • Flexibility to work split shifts, including weekends How to Apply: Please send your resume and a short cover note to lisa@satorisushi.co.nz or drop it off in person at Satori Sushi & Sake Bar.
