About the Role We are seeking a Mental Health Act (MHA) Officer who is solution-focused, has highly development office management and organisation skills to ensure smooth coordination application of the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment Treatment) Act for the Lakes district (Rotorua and Taupo) Mental Health Addiction Services. The role is based at Rotorua and travel to Taupo as required. This role offers variety and a good level of challenge while working with a range of passionate clinicians and other administrators. As well as a supportive, inclusive and diverse work environment, As a MHA Officer your focus is on ensuring compliance with implementation of the formal legal processes related to the Mental Health Act and SACAT Act. The Mental Health Act Officer works on behalf of the DAMHS and the Director of Area Addictions and is integral to ensuring the rights of tangata whai i te ora (patients) are upheld. This includes regular liaison with court officials and other legal executives. This position forms an integral part of the overall Mental Health Management Administration Support Team, with the particular portfolio of administrative support to the Clinical Director. You will be organized, resilient and have the ability to walk alongside people wherever their journey.
