Line Mechanic

The Work You'll Own: This isn't just a patch job. You'll be out in the field making real, lasting contributions to the power network. From the installation and replacement of poles and overhead conductors, to maintaining and overhauling hardware up to 110kV, you'll be trusted to get the job done safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You'll also operate ground and structure-mounted equipment up to 33kV and develop clear, practical work plans that keep everything moving — even when the weather doesn't cooperate. More Than the Tools You're the Backbone of the Crew: Yes, you'll be on the tools but you'll also be the steady hand your team relies on. You'll provide day-to-day guidance, support, and hands-on leadership, making sure the right people are in the right places, and the work is delivered to plan.You'll also play a key role in linking the day-to-day grind with the bigger picture: safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and Northpower's long-term success. Estates Management – Campus Services About the Role Massey University is seeking a full time Energy Engineer based at our Manawatū campus, with travel required to our Wellington and Albany campuses. This role will play a key part in driving energy efficiency, carbon emission reduction, and sustainability initiatives across the university. You will focus on data analytics, energy and carbon emission monitoring, and identification and facilitation of energy-savings and carbon emission reductions opportunities to optimise energy use, reduce carbon emissions, and improve operational efficiencies. You will also be synergistically responsible for metering and account management, forecasting energy costs, energy and carbon reporting, and promoting a culture of carbon awareness and engagement. Reporting to the Manager - Engineering, you will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to achieve Massey’s goal of becoming Net Carbon Zero. About You You are a technical expert in energy efficiency and carbon management, with strong skills in data analysis, technical analysis, payback analysis, and identification and facilitation of energy-savings and carbon emissions reductions opportunities. You thrive in a collaborative environment, can engage effectively with key stakeholders, and provide expert technical advice. You are goal focussed to achieve verified energy saving and carbon emission reduction targets. Your expertise in Building Management Systems (BMS), energy and carbon reporting tools, and sustainability initiatives will be crucial to this role. Requirements for the Role • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Science, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or Environmental Engineering, with a focus on energy efficiency and carbon management. • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a relevant industry energy efficiency/carbon management role. Previous proven success in an EECA energy efficiency/carbon management graduate programme ideal. • Strong skills in energy data analytics, data quality management, technical analysis, payback analysis, and energy & carbon emission reporting systems (e.g., BMS, ESP, EMS, Power BI, Excel, …). • Strong experience in identification and facilitation of energy-saving and carbon emission reduction opportunities, data analysis, data quality management, technical analysis, and payback analysis. • Experience in metering and account management, energy cost forecasting, energy and carbon emission reporting, and promoting a culture of carbon awareness and engagement. • Ability to work across multiple campuses and engage with internal and external stakeholders. • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to integrating its principles into your work.
