6Clarinet. Boosey & Hawkes Regent 220558 in original case The serial number, 220558, on this fine instrument indicates that it was made in 1962; It was was bought for me in 1968 but I never mastered the breathing skills required, nor were any of our children interested in learning to play, so it has remained untouched in its original case for about 40 years. The body of the instrument is ebonite, a hard black plastic material, and the bell is a lighter-weight plastic. All keys are metal, silver nickel from memory (but I could be wrong) and the case includes the original tube of cork grease and other small care items. The case itself is a bit battered, could be leather but is probably a hard plastic. The handle has been mended, as shown, and the interior is lined with velvet. This is a model designed for beginners, hence the sturdy materials used in its making. However the tone was very mellow when it was first played and still is although now it will require a bit of care (interior cleaning with cloth included, greasing of joints, etc) to bring it back to close to its original state. I am sorry now that I didn’t persist with it 50 plus years ago and hope that whoever buys it now gives it much more loving attention than my younger, impatient self did.
