The Role: We’re looking for a skilled fabricator and welder to join our team, working with aluminium and steel to produce top-tier horse floats and trailers. If you have experience in aluminium welding and steel fabrication—with or without coach building experience—you could be a great fit! This role offers variety, hands-on work, the use of a range of materials and machines and the opportunity to develop new skills and experience in a supportive team environment. Responsibilities: • Fabricate and assemble aluminium and steel components for floats and trailers. • Perform welding tasks with precision and attention to detail. • Collaborate with the team to ensure high-quality workmanship. • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment. • Follow quality assurance protocols to ensure the highest standards of workmanship are met. • Deal and interact with customers, addressing their needs and ensuring their satisfaction. • Contribute to a positive work environment and ensure the success and enjoyment of everyone involved. Requirements: • Proven experience in aluminium welding and steel fabrication. • Coach building experience preferred but not required. • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Excellent problem-solving skills. • Commitment to safety and quality. Mechanical Engineer

Christchurch Ready Mix Concrete Ltd is a well-established family owned business which has been operating in Canterbury for over 60 years. We are looking for an experienced engineer to fill a fixed term role for 6 months in our dedicated engineering team that repairs and maintains all plant assets. This includes concrete plants, crushing and screening plants, fixed, mobile and earthmoving equipment, along with truck and trailer units. You will be based at our Belfast Site but also undertake work on our other sites within Christchurch and North Canterbury. This can be a fast-paced roll and a level head is required to ensure downtime is minimized, while correctly following our health and safety processes. The work is varied and challenging. Reporting directly to the Engineering Team Supervisor, you will need to have the confidence and skills to take ownership of repair and maintenance tasks, including the ability to problem solve. You will possess quality welding, fitting and fabrication skills and be able to finish your work to a high standard. Experience fabricating with steel is critical, while prior work with stainless steel and aluminum is a bonus. You will need to have the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. You will work in the workshop and in the field, as required. Some training will be provided to the successful candidate, to fill in experience and knowledge gaps if required. The ideal candidate will possess: • Trade Certification • Steel MIG welding tickets preferred • Experience Maintaining fixed plant and mobile equipment • Experience with ARC welding • An enthusiasm for Health and Safety • WTR, F, Class 5, EWP, Confined Spaces, working at heights or any other relevant tickets are a bonus You will also need to have the following: • Flexibility to work late or the occasional Saturday is essential • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills In return we can offer: • Wage rate depending on qualifications and experience is $35 to $39 per hour • Time and half after 40 hours, plus tool allowance • An opportunity to join a great team • Guaranteed 40 hours per week The successful applicant will be required to undergo a pre employment medical and drug test.
