Macaulay Metals is a 100% New Zealand owned and operated Scrap Metal Recycling Company and we’ve been in operation for over 60 years! We purchase both steel and non-ferrous metals, process them, and sell them for further recycling. We are working hard to recycle scrap metal! We are looking for someone to come and work for us as a Steel gas cutter in our Seaview yard. You will need to have proven experience in gas/plasma cutting, with the gas cutter being responsible for cutting up steel into more manageable sizes for additional processing. In this position you might also be asked to travel within New Zealand for Project work. Skills and attributes required: • It is essential that you have experience with gas cutting and plasma cutting. • Good health and safety record • Clean full driver’s license • Ability to work as part of a small team and independently. • Able to pass a drug and alcohol test. • Able to pass a MoJ check to our satisfaction. • Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand. i.e., be a New Zealand or Australian citizen or a New Zealand permanent resident. • Ability and interested in traveling for work. We offer a competitive hour rate range for this position; $30.00-$35.00 per hour based on skills and experience. We will also offer training and upskilling for the right person. The hours of work are Monday to Friday and Saturday morning as rostered or required. Weekly hours are approximately 40-45 hours per week, although when working on projects these hours will vary. Due to an increase in our business, AND one of our valued team going on a holiday, we need a permanent full time staff member to start soon. We pay industry standard rates which increase as you gain skill and qualifications. The role is varied and very interesting – every day is different. As well as safety nets, we do a lot of shrink wrap installations, SPS stairwell platforms and we also manufacture debris nets and pallet rack netting. Therefore, there is plenty of opportunity to increase your skill set. We will provide some PPE but you need your own steel cap boots ( they must be laced or zipped. You must have at least a NZ restricted drivers license. If you don’t, please don’t apply. This position would suit an experienced worker, however training will be given and a lot of the skill and knowledge will be quickly learned on the job. It would be great if you had Site Safe or other ticketed skills. Otherwise we will train you! You need to be reliable, healthy and able to handle physical work. We are a successful business having recently formed as a merge of 2 business within the industry. We enjoy a good market share and a great reputation from a reliable and hard working team Our yard and workshop is based in Gracefield near the base of the Wainui hill and you need to be able to get yourself to and from work.
