Treescape is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Agrichemical Applicator in the Lower South Island, working with our crews providing vegetation management services across the KiwiRail network. This is your chance to be part of a crew that keeps New Zealand's rail network moving, no two days will be the same with a variety of work across the network from South Canterbury to Bluff. Based in Port Chalmers, we require a Gantry Operator to safely lift and move empty logging truck trailers as part of our yard operations The role involves ensuring competent and safe use of the Gantry in trailer lifting, effective communication during the lift and ensuring safety during all processes associated with the operation. We are seeking an experienced people leader who is looking to take the next step in their career towards a supervisory role. Our Log Checkpoint is a Monday to Friday operation that receives and measures logs at the port arriving via truck. All logs coming through the Checkpoint are measured or "scaled" using an international standard and each log is tracked on its journey. The Checkpoint Team Leader oversees a team of Checkpoint Processors who perform these duties. The person we seek will be someone who enjoys responsibility and hands on leadership. You will be someone who likes motivating and getting the best out of others by fostering a good team culture and building positive morale. The ideal candidate will have previous checkpoint operations experience (although not essential) and be keen to take on the responsibility of training staff to achieve an NZQA qualification in Log Scaling. Duties of this role will also include assisting with the delivery of an efficient and quality service to our customers. The following skills and qualities are also required in this role: ? About the Job Log scaling is an NZQA accredited job, where a structured training programme can gain you a recognised qualification. You don't need previous experience in this type of role either as training is provided. The Checkpoint is a facility where logging trucks come to have their logs measured and ticketed ready for export. The Log Scaler manually "scales" or measures each log using an international standard, then barcodes the log and scans it into our system so that every single log can be tracked wherever it is. The Checkpoint is a team environment where the safety of our staff is paramount. Shifts can be up to 12 hours in length between the houurs of 0500am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday, with some occasional weekend work. You will need to be flexible with working hours as shift times can vary. On offer is casual employment. About you You will be the kind of person who likes to be accurate when taking measurements, with good attention to detail. You will also enjoy communicating with truck drivers and members of your team. This is an active outdoor role that requires you to meet deadlines and also be ok on your feet for most of your shift. You will also be confident operating scanning equipment and preferably hold a full class 1 licence.
