FFP Canterbury Ltd have an opening for a Fire Sprinkler Technician working from our Christchurch branch. This is a front-line technical role and relates directly to the installation, servicing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems. This is a full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week. We cover the whole of the Canterbury region therefore the role will involve the occasional night shift and working away from home as per contractual demands. This is a hands-on role for an experienced technician who has a strong understanding of fire sprinkler systems, including installation, fault finding, and testing & inspection procedures. The role will include but not be limited to the following: • New sprinkler installations • Repairs and maintenance of existing sprinkler systems • Assisting in any ad-hoc project work driven by the other business units. Key Responsibilities: • Install fire sprinkler systems in accordance with design specifications and NZ Standards (e.g., NZS 4541, NZS 4515). • Perform fault finding and diagnosis on existing systems. • Conduct system testing and inspections, including pressure testing and commissioning. • Liaise with site supervisors, clients, and project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification. • Work in compliance with company safety protocols and relevant health and safety legislation. • Maintain accurate records and documentation for compliance and certification purposes. • Participate in out-of-town projects and night work as required. Skills & Experience Required: • Proven experience in fire sprinkler installation. • Thorough understanding of industry standards, including NZS 4541 and NZS 4515. • Experience with fault diagnosis, system testing, and commissioning. • Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical documents. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. • Excellent time management and communication skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. This role is open to New Zealand Citizens as well as Permanent Residents who are currently residing in the Christchurch area or surrounding suburbs. Experience in the fire industry is a definite advantage but we will also consider people from similar technical disciplines looking for a change in direction and a new challenge in life. Every candidate will require a full, clean, New Zealand Driver’s licence, and the ability to pass a police background check and pre-employment health assessment.
