About the Role: Apex Care is seeking a calm, compassionate, and solutions focused After Hours Coordinator to be the first point of contact for our support workers (kaimahi) and clients outside of standard business hours. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the tangata whai ora we support by coordinating care, managing urgent staffing needs, and providing guidance during high-pressure situations. This is a dynamic role that requires excellent communication, quick thinking, and the ability to remain composed under pressure. You’ll work on a rotating schedule, alternating weeknights and weekends with another coordinator to ensure continuous after-hours coverage. Key Responsibilities: • Respond to after-hours calls from support workers, clients, and whānau • Match support workers with clients based on needs and availability • Manage urgent rostering and service delivery issues • Provide calm, clear communication in high-stress situations • Maintain accurate records and handovers for the daytime team • What You’ll Bring: • Relevant experience in coordination, health, or social services • Strong computer skills and the ability to multitask under pressure • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English • Emotionally mature, resilient and compassionate when navigating complex situations • Proficiency in or a respectful understanding of Te Reo Māori • A calm, compassionate, and resilient approach to care • Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and communities • Holds New Zealand residency or a valid work visa Important Note: This role involves supporting people in complex and sometimes confronting situations.
