The Downer South division is highly respected and has a great track record for delivering a high standard of work across the country. We are looking for an experienced or up-and-coming Driver Operator. This is a 'hands on' role where you will assist the crew tasked with delivering a range of our water construction projects. You'll be involved with the operations of our water team to help ensure that work is completed to the satisfaction of our customers and that production targets are met. You'll be involved in labouring duties from manual excavating, spotting diggers, compacting in trenches, looking for water leaks, undertaking sewer leaks and maintenance in 3 Waters. We are looking to train and develop you as we have a variety of work available as no two days will be the same. You'll have the opportunity to work and grow in to the three networks of water services where you can pick up the skills of being able to carry out pipeline renewals, install manholes and pump stations as we carry out work with the Tararua District Council. **Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills** You will be a physically fit and motivated person and will bring with you. * A Class 1 full New Zealand drivers licence, additional heavy vehicle licences and endorsements, are a bonus! * Previous experience in Water Reticulation is preferred * You will have or be willing to work towards a related qualification * Strong safety and quality focus **Ko wai mātou | Our Organisation** Want to know more about what it is like to work at Downer? If you’re experienced in profiling/setting out of building foundations, or house relevelling or underpinning and have the ability to read foundation plans (or want to learn), we’d love to hear from you. While having an LBP is a bonus, it’s not a requirement, but some prior building experience is a must. It is essential that any individual joining us is experienced in working in any weather and all types of sites, including mud, steep and rocky terrain. This is a labour intensive job. Great wages will be negotiated for the right person. The work is based in Northland, and you will travel back and forth each day to the site in most situations, from our yard. You must have your own vehicle to get to and from our yard. Where the site is too far away and the team have to stay over, transport will be provided along with accommodation and food. There is a good solid pipeline of work that will keep you busy.
