ABOUT THE ROLE - NGĀ ĀHUATANGA O TE TŪRANGA This role involves the management of the museum's collections, including Taonga Māori, their care and preservation and the management of the records and documentation pertaining to the collections. You will be responsible for the curation of the object collections and assist customers to meet their arts, culture, knowledge and heritage needs through access to the museum's collections as well as provide collections research for exhibitions and events. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR - KEI TE KIMI MĀTOU I TĒNEI MOMO TANGATA We are looking for someone with a tertiary qualification in museum studies or related area and at least 5 years' experience in managing collections in a museum. You will be a strong communicator with the ability to multi-task and have exceptional customer service and relationship management skills. You will have proven experience in working with mana whenua and iwi and be naturally adaptable, have a strong work ethic and ideally have worked in a small museum environment. A sound understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, mātauranga Māori and tikanga is essential. Fluency in Te Reo is desirable.
