We’re looking for an experienced Diesel Technician with a passion for heavy transport and a knack for diagnostics and repair. In this hands-on role, you’ll work on a variety of heavy transport vehicles, ensuring they’re running at peak performance and meeting the highest standards of safety and compliance. Key Responsibilities: -Diagnose and repair heavy transport vehicles and components -Carry out scheduled maintenance and COF servicing -Ensure timely completion of all jobs and customer satisfaction -Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment -Use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot mechanical and electronic systems -Support team operations and contribute to workshop efficiency What We’re Looking For: -At least 5 years' experience in the heavy transport industry -Proven ability to work on DAF, Cummins, or Kenworth engines -Skilled in both computer-based and hands-on diagnostics -NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering (Road Transport strand) or equivalent -A Class 4 and/or 5 NZ Driver’s License -Familiar with SAF and BPW systems, gearbox and diff work -Strong attention to detail and commitment to health and safety standards What’s In It For You?: -Competitive hourly rate based on experience -Guaranteed 45-hour work week, with Time and a Half for weekend work -Ongoing training and development opportunities -Join a supportive and professional team with a solid reputation in the industry Apply now or send your CV directly to myron@4tpgroup.com. Button Contracting have been operating in the Canterbury region for the last 26 years. We have two fully mechanised hauler logging crews and an earthmoving crew. Due to our long standing mechanic moving on, we are currently seeking a qualified heavy diesel technician. Applicants who apply should have the following: - Relevant heavy diesel trade qualification - can work well unsupervised as well as part of a team - Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills - Have a strong health and safety culture for yourself and those you are working with - Be reliable honest with a positive can do attitude - Be self motivated and organised - Pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing - Must have good communication with management and fellow workmates - Have full driver license - A good understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems With this position you will be responsible for ordering parts that are needed for repairs and maintenance of the equipment you are working on. Wage rate depending on qualifications and experience is $40-$50ph with a tool allowance and time and half paid over 40 hours. Standard work week is Monday-Friday 7am-5pm with minimal weekend work but available if requested Job will entail approx. 70% field service and 30% in our well equipped workshop.
