Our vision is for a model of support based on relationships and values, and we are seeking enthusiastic and proactive people to support a young woman in her 40’s with intellectual disability and epilepsy who lives on the North Shore. We are looking for people who are keen to work in partnership with a disabled person, to ensure she can live out her life the way she wants to. Walking alongside her and supporting her in all aspects of her life, to ensure she gets the most of her day and enjoys life to the fullest. This is more than a job; you will play a very important role in this woman’s life. Successful candidates will have: * A kind and caring nature, be able to think on their feet, remain calm under pressure. * A desire to uphold the rights of disabled people to have autonomy and control in their own lives. * Enjoy working as part of a dynamic team, with an ability to work in a complex and changing environment. * A friendly, respectful manner with good written and oral communication skills and a gentle approach. * Be open to listening, learning a new approach and work collaboratively as a member of a close-knit team. * Be responsible and reliable, with good organisational skills, able to demonstrate initiative and a common-sense approach to the role. * A moderate level of fitness. * A full, clean driver licence, as you will be driving the young woman’s car. * You must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa You will be part of a team, working in pairs to cover rostered shifts. Available shifts are from 8am to 4pm and 4pm to 8am, over 7 days per week. The successful candidates must be willing to work a mixture of weekdays, weekends and public holidays. May suit someone with an interest in Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Education. Full training and a comprehensive induction and orientation package will be provided to the successful candidates. Previous experience is not necessary, but enthusiasm and willingness to see someone as a person, beyond their disability and work differently is key.
