Maintenance Assistant

An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly professional Maintenance & Grounds Assistant to join our team at Woodhouse Mountain Lodge situated in Warkworth, Matakana. This beautiful property offers 18 Villas, large conferencing facilities, Restaurant, Pool, Sauna & Tennis Courts. This role offers a diverse range of responsibilities and an exciting challenge working across the accommodation and grounds. As our Maintenance Assistant you will be responsible for all aspects of the Lodge maintenance. Working closely with all departments to ensure the rooms and buildings are being kept to a high standard, liaising with key tradesmen and ensuring the Hotel is operating smoothly and grounds and surrounds looking neat and tidy at all times. This is a fixed-term position until February 2026 with the potential to be extended. Part time or full time hours available. Responsibilities: • Oversee all aspects of maintenance operations for the lodge, ensuring the highest level of functionality, appearance, and safety. • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to proactively address potential issues and maintain the property’s facilities in excellent condition. • Conduct regular inspections of the hotel's facilities, gardens, identifying maintenance needs, and implementing timely and cost-effective solutions. • Manage and prioritize maintenance requests and work orders, ensuring prompt resolution and minimal disruption to guests and operations. • Collaborate with other departments, such as Housekeeping and Front Office, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment in achieving maintenance objectives. • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and service contracts. • Drive stock to and from designated areas. • Assist with portering responsibilities. • Assist with landscaping, gardening, and groundskeeping tasks to maintain a pristine appearance throughout the resort. • Monitor expenses and manage the maintenance budget, optimizing resources while maintaining high-quality standards. • Stay up to date with industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to maintenance and facility management. Experience: • Proven experience in a Maintenance or similar role, preferably within a high-end Resort or luxury property. • Extensive knowledge of building systems, equipment, and facilities maintenance. • Flexibility and willingness to work in a remote location with a strong sense of responsibility. • Must have a valid NZ driver’s license. • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues. • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. • Solid understanding of safety regulations and practices, ensuring compliance and a safe working environment. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with staff, suppliers, and guests. Our technicians are the real heroes of our busy wholesale operation. They keep our customers' operational by ensuring their machinery is in tip top condition. You’ll be responsible for the regular servicing and upkeep of our fleet of coffee equipment, and for delivering excellent service and support to our valued cafe customers in Auckland and the upper North Island. The role also includes being on call to attend customer emergencies and provide phone support. Main duties include: * Providing an excellent and reliable technical service to our wholesale customers in the upper North Island. * Performing regular maintenance and repairs of our customers' equipment. * Swiftly responding to customer call outs. * Working with 3rd party techs to resolve issues as required. * Diagnosing problems, then identifying and actioning solutions that will keep our customers operational. * Working with the Sales team to recommend and provide appropriate machinery and solutions for our customers. * Performing pre-installation checks, managing installation requirements and completing installations. * Delivering quality customer care and excellent communication when responding to technical enquiries. * Performing weekend/after hours “on call” responsibilities on a regular scheduled basis. * Documenting all service and installation work in our ERP system. * Invoicing customers accurately and in a timely manner. * Maintaining a tidy and organised workshop. * Performing regular stocktakes. * Keeping on site technical equipment and vans well maintained with regular service and preventative maintenance. * Staying up to date on techniques in the ever evolving coffee industry, participate in educational opportunities and share knowledge.
