Are you an experienced Class 5 driver ready to take the next step in your career? We're on the hunt for a motivated individual who wants to move beyond the cab and make a real difference in a dynamic transport environment. This is a dual-purpose role based in Penrose which will require you to operate Class 5 trucks, train other drivers, and assist with health and safety observations. Your days will start at 5am where you’ll be managing morning transport despatch of trucks until about 9am. From here through to 3pm, the focus shifts to driver training, coaching, and carrying out safety observations. You would also operate as a casual driver that fills in to assist with jobs when needed, hence why you need to have Class 5 driving experience yourself. This could range from covering leave or sickness, to helping out when things are busy. Our ideal candidate is an experienced Class 5 Driver who is either sick of long hours and wants a regular routine with responsibility, or a Class 5 Driver heading towards the end of your driving career and wanting less driving and more office based work. Preferably you have some despatching experience using transport management systems. The client is happy to train someone with the right attitude and experience, so no health and safety background required. Duties Include: • Despatch operations: 5am-9am each day. • Training/H&S observations: 9am-3pm each day. • Assist with the coordination of up to 24 trucks across two sites. • Driving a Class 5 truck when needed. • Conduct safety observations and support the health and safety culture • Use transport management systems to manage freight and dispatch tasks • Record keeping/driving log. • Provide hands-on coaching and mentoring for drivers Role Requirements: • Class 5 License (essential). • MUST have at least 2 years of experience driving Class 5 trucks. • Experience with despatching trucks is preferred. • Strong computer skills and experience with transport management systems • OSH forklift license (preferred but not essential). • Physically fit – you might need to throw chains or assist with on-the-ground tasks • Good communication skills and positive attitude. • Ability to listen, support and develop skills of others • Clean MOJ and pre-employment drug/alcohol testing required.
