Recovered from the swamplands of Northland, where it rested for over 45,000 years, this is the world’s oldest workable timber, rich in history and natural beauty. Dimensions Solid and mixed grade • Board Size: 150 × 55 / 50 mm • Lot 1: Length range 0.9–1.6 m — Total 15.6 LM • Lot 2: Length range 2.5–3.1 m — Total 16.7 LM • Lot 3: 3.0 m × 6 pieces — Total 18.0 LM • Total (3 lots): 50.3 LM • Estimated Weight: ~220 kg Every piece of Ancient Kauri holds its own story — ready for you to craft it into something extraordinary. Key Features • Species: Ancient Swamp Kauri (Genuine New Zealand origin) • Drying: Air-dried for over 10 years, then carefully kiln-dried for stability • Finish: Raw finish — ready for oil, resin, wax, or polyurethane • Character: Glowing grain and natural cracks — ideal for feature furniture, artworks, or collectors’ pieces Pickup & Freight • Pickup: Kumeu, Auckland (within 7 days of auction close) • Freight Guide: • North Island — $200 to $400 • South Island — $300 to $500 Important Notice for Buyers Swamp Kauri is not ordinary timber — it is a heritage wood unlike any other. Please bid only if you are familiar with it or have experience working with specialty timbers. While beautifully workable, it behaves differently from modern timbers: • Natural cracks, tension, or grain movement may occur. • Each board is unique — shaped by nature over thousands of years. • The beauty of Ancient Kauri lies in its prehistoric depth and natural imperfection, not uniformity.
