Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive, degenerative disease that attacks the nerves that support movement, speech, swallowing, and breathing. MND is fatal and has no cure. With no truly meaningful treatment options, the MND Foundation focus on making time count for those impacted. MND sets the clock ticking, with an average of just 36 months between diagnosis and death in Aotearoa. Every week, at least two people are diagnosed - and at least two New Zealanders die from the disease. With Cheyne being diagnosed with an aggressive case at such a young age he is struggling to raise funds to afford 24/7 care to stay out of Middlemore Hospital.
