We are currently seeking a qualified Crane Technician to join our Auckland-based operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing cranes including mobile cranes, and other lifting equipment on large-scale construction sites. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone with a strong mechanical and electrical background who takes pride in safety, reliability, and precision. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on construction site cranes. • Diagnose and repair faults in crane control systems, hydraulics, and mechanical components. • Perform safety checks and load testing in accordance with WorkSafe NZ standards. • Assist with crane erection and dismantling on high-rise construction projects. • Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with all safety and legal requirements. • Collaborate with project managers and crane operators to minimize downtime and ensure optimal equipment performance. • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and conduct emergency repairs on-site. • Follow all site-specific health and safety protocols and promote safe working practices. Qualifications & Experience: • Trade Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Hydraulic Engineering (or equivalent) preferred. • Proven work experience in diagnosing and repairing faults in crane control systems, hydraulics and mechanical components. • Minimum 5 years’ work experience servicing cranes in the construction industry. • Knowledge of crane systems, load indicators, and electrical diagnostics. • Familiarity with WorkSafe NZ regulations and construction site safety protocols, or willingness to take appropriate training. • Current full Driver’s License; Class 2 and EWP (Elevated Work Platform) certification preferred. • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work at heights and in high-pressure environments What We Offer: • Rate: $24.50-$35 per hour • Minimum guaranteed: 35 hours per week • Auckland location • Ongoing training and certification support • Strong safety culture and a team-focused work environment
