Join our team to contribute to exciting projects that shape our communities. ### Key Responsibilities - Lay bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials to construct walls, partitions, arches, and other structures. - Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate construction. - Mix, apply, and spread mortar, cement, and other materials using appropriate tools. - Cut and shape bricks or blocks to fit specific designs or patterns. - Ensure structures are level, plumb, and aligned using levels, plumb bobs, and other tools. - Collaborate with other construction professionals, including carpenters, laborers, and supervisors, to ensure project completion. - Adhere to safety standards and regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). - Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition. - Assist with site cleanup and preparation as needed. ### Requirements - Proven experience as a brick/block layer or similar role in the construction industry. - Proficiency in using masonry tools and equipment (e.g., trowels, levels, jointers, and saws). - Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings. - Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. - Physical fitness and stamina to perform labor-intensive tasks in various weather conditions. - Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in construction environments. - Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (preferred). - Relevant certifications or trade qualifications (e.g., NZQA Level 4 in Masonry or equivalent) are a plus. - Team player with good communication skills. ### Working Conditions - Work is primarily outdoors, subject to weather conditions. - Requires lifting heavy materials, standing for extended periods, and working at heights. - Full-time role with potential for overtime during peak project periods. - Personal protective equipment (PPE) provided and required on all job sites. ### Benefits - Competitive salary based on experience. - Opportunities for professional development and career advancement. - Supportive team environment with a focus on safety and quality. - [Optional: Add specific benefits, e.g., health insurance, paid leave, etc., if applicable] Ruby Construction Ltd. is an equal opportunity employer.
