





About the Role We are seeking an experienced Spray Technician Machinery Operator to join our Horticulture team. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of tractors and associated spray equipment to protect crop health and ensure optimal yields. The position requires both technical skill in machinery operation and maintaining spray equipment along with a strong knowledge of agrichemical handling, compliance, crop protection practices, following spray schedules, and complying with health, safety, and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities * Prepare, mix, and safely apply agrichemicals in line with NZS8409: Management of Agrichemicals. * Operate, calibrate, and maintain a range of spray equipment and machinery. * Identify and monitor pests, diseases, and weeds to ensure effective treatment. * Maintain accurate spray diaries and application records to meet compliance standards. * Monitor weather conditions and adjust spray programs as required. * Ensure safe storage, handling, and disposal of agrichemicals. * Follow health and safety procedures and use appropriate PPE. Skills and Experience Required * Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in horticulture machinery operation * Minimum of 3 years’ experience in agrichemical application, crop protection, or a similar role. * Competent in mathematical calculations using fractions, decimals and ratios * Proven ability to calibrate and operate spraying equipment safely and effectively. * Sound knowledge of agrichemicals, pest/disease management, and crop protection practices. * Ability to follow spray programs, adapt to seasonal needs, and work independently. * Strong attention to detail with accurate record-keeping skills. * Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
