A strong background in technical and practical is preferred over someone with management experience. However, you will be expected to develop into a management role. Key Responsibilities: Operate and maintain hydroponic systems, including nutrient delivery systems, and environmental controls. Monitor plant health, nutrient levels, and environmental conditions to optimize growing conditions and maximize crop yields. Evaluate and improve system inefficiencies, to always achieve high productivity and efficiency. Plant, transplant, prune, and harvest a variety of crops. Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure the smooth operation of farming equipment and infrastructure. Collaborate with team members to implement best practices, troubleshoot issues, and achieve production targets. Maintain accurate records of crop production data, including planting schedules, harvest yields, and quality control measures. Assist the Grower and Field Supervisor with tasks relating to crop maintenance, health, pre-harvest, harvest and post-harvest. Required Skills and Attributes: Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience the horticulture industry, a strong background in commercial berry growing is a must. Strong knowledge of agronomy principles and crop management techniques. Good with numbers: analysing trends, calculating water and nutrition budgets. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to perform tasks related to crop cultivation, including bending, lifting, and operating farm equipment. Excellent organizational and time management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation is essential. Skilled at crop health and pest and disease management. Knowledge of best practices for soil preparation, planting, and crop maintenance Strong understanding of irrigation techniques and water management Flexibility to work long hours and weekends during peak seasons. Sound working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements. Hourly rate $32 - $35 per hour General hours are off season 35 – 40 in season is 60 – 70 per week Must pass a drug and alcohol test Must have a clean criminal record Full driving license required
