In this key role within our wider Cloud Platforms team, you'll help secure our platforms, create scalable solutions, and remove roadblocks to empower our development teams. You'll be a great communicator, have a proactive approach to problem-solving, and genuinely enjoy collaborating with teams across Trade Me.
**Here is what you can expect from this role:**
* Build and maintain a scalable core data platform.
* Ensure the reliability and availability of the data platform.
* Follow best practices to ensure data privacy and security.
* Plan and deliver changes inspired by DevOps practices.
* Join the on-call team and respond to incidents on the data platform.
**What you will bring to our team:**
* 5+ years administering Microsoft SQL Server, or similar database technology.
* Can manage database infrastructure in public cloud environments (Google Cloud and AWS).
* Experience being part of a small on-call roster.
* Sound knowledge of Windows Clustering, and Windows Server O/S.
* Some familiarity with Linux or Serverless apps would be beneficial.
* A good understanding of storage snapshot technologies and SQL Server HA / DR.
* Familiarity with cloud data services and use-cases.
* Experience with other cloud-based or open-source RDBMS would be beneficial.
* Calm decision making under pressure.
* Great communications skills in-person and using collaboration tools.

**What you will bring to our team:**
* Tertiary qualification with a degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
* At least 3 years' experience in a similar digital sector
* Experience working in an application or product environment that requires good communication with wider stakeholders and forethought and consideration of other subsystems
* Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with both relational and non-relational databases
* ETL experience
* Understanding of cloud architecture concerns
* Have experience with modern ETL tools
* Speak SQL fluently, and comfortable using Python
* Have deep knowledge and experience with databases and building data warehouses
* Are experienced in building cloud-based data solutions, AWS, GCP or Snowflake
* Have experience with modern BI tools, like PowerBI
* Has an analytical mindset and some analytical experience
* Modern commercial software development skills, experience building distributed systems, and solid cloud ops skills
* Highly collaborative with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to form professional relationships with people of differing levels and specialisations
* Ability to promote data best practices across a company in a compelling way
* Curiosity, and a desire to maximise the value of our data to both internal and external consumers.

The Insights Manager champions the organisation’s insights and analysis capability and helps us understand what drives people to support our work and take action for the planet. Leading a small dedicated team they uncover the stories in our data and share insights that strengthen our fundraising, grow engagement, and enhance our campaigns.
Key responsibilities include:
*Lead the development of data-driven campaigning strategies, working with the Campaign *Programme team to shape, deliver, and adapt plans for environmental impact
*Provide the insights that drive our fundraising and supporter engagement strategies
*Create and deliver our organisational business intelligence roadmap
*Transform data into clear, actionable intelligence that guides decisions
*Partner with stakeholders and the BI Specialist to ensure reporting and insight needs are met
*Track and analyse key trends from external sources—such as census data, benchmarking reports, economic indicators, and media/social media—and use these to inform our strategies and decision-making.
ABOUT YOU
No matter your background, you will have led insights strategies for fundraising, marketing, awareness, or sales campaigns and you’ll know how to transfer that experience into driving our environmental work. Your insights skills will help power our environmental campaigns as we take action on climate, oceans protection, and eradication of single use plastics.
You’ll have:
• At least 3 years of people management in an equivalent role
• Tertiary qualification in Data Science, Statistics, or similar
• A passion and commitment to the Greenpeace mission and values
• Experience with Civis or other similar data partners
• Advanced knowledge of SQL
