Counsellor – Drug & Alcohol Programme Facilitator

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Counsellor to facilitate our Drug and Alcohol Education Course, held twice weekly in the evenings. Counsellor – Drug & Alcohol Programme Facilitator Location: Otahuhu, Auckland Hours: Monday and Thursday evenings, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM About the Role: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Counsellor to facilitate our Drug and Alcohol Education Course, held twice weekly in the evenings. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting individuals through recovery, education, and behaviour change. You will deliver structured seminars focused on drug and alcohol awareness, harm reduction, recovery tools, and behaviour change strategies. The role requires someone confident in group facilitation and capable of creating a supportive, non-judgemental learning environment. Key Responsibilities • Facilitate engaging, structured drug and alcohol education sessions twice weekly (Mon & Thurs 7–9pm). • Deliver content that is evidence-based, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed. • Support participants in understanding addiction, recovery models, harm reduction, and self-management. • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times. • Collaborate with programme coordinators and provide feedback on session outcomes and attendance. • Conduct basic assessments or refer individuals for further support if required. Collaborate with the team leader and other stakeholders to develop a comprehensive post-diagnostic support and navigation program for individuals with dementia and their families. b. Identify the specific needs and challenges faced by Pacific communities in accessing dementia support services. c. Design culturally appropriate strategies and interventions to address these needs and challenges. Community Engagement and Outreach: a. Build and maintain partnerships with Pacific communities, community leaders, advocacy groups, and other relevant stakeholders to raise awareness about dementia and available support services. b. Organise and participate in community events, workshops, and educational sessions to disseminate information about dementia and promote early detection and intervention. c.
