





Part-Time - 24 hours per week $23.50-$29.10 Lower Hutt location Spectrum Care Trust supports adults who have intellectual disabilities and we are looking for a new team member in Lower Hutt. We're looking for someone kind and empathic to support 4 young people in their 20's, some of whom have limited mobility when out and about. You will assist during activities, household tasks and hopefully bring ideas of your own for things they may enjoy doing and experiencing. They are busy bees with high energy. We'll need someone who can keep up and engage them in music, swimming and sensory delights. Someone who is great at interaction- using your expressions and voice to 'connect'. Support is needed with personal cares and eating. If that's new to you, don't worry; everyone has to start somewhere. The main thing is that you are a kind, genuine person, who is insightful and intuitive, and ready to be lively and active or gentle and soothing as needed. Attributes & Skills - Committed to supporting people with disabilities to live great lives - Empathic, intuitive, kind, positive and engaging - Keen to help young adults grow and develop - Able to communicate effectively and attentively with your colleagues and the people you support - Ready to "go with the flow" and change activities quickly if necessary - Comfortable with reporting and administration tasks - Prepared to support people with personal cares such as toileting, bathing, dressing, etc… The ideal candidate will have: - Excellent, clear, understandable verbal and written English is a pre-requisite to be considered for this role - Able to pass a NZ police check - Experience supporting people with disabilities, and or mental health issues, and/or behaviours that can be challenging is desirable but not necessary - Reliability, commitment, and passion for working with people - A full New Zealand driver's licence - An interest in attaining a Community Support Worker Level Three or above qualification- we can support you to achieve this while you work - The ability to use a computer effectively, including programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and email Apply now if you have a passion for working with people and want to make a difference!
