We are seeking experienced and passionate Asian Cuisine/ Sushi Makers to join our growing team. This role is hands-on, involving all facets of food preparation, cooking and quality control. The ideal candidate will possess specialized skills in Asian sushi-making and contribute to menu development, delivering authentic, high-quality dishes to our customers. While knowledge of Asian cuisine is preferred, proficiency in Japanese language is advantageous but not required. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and plan new menu items, accurately estimating food quantities and portions. • Prepare, cook, and present sushi and other Asian cuisine dishes to the highest standards. • Operate kitchen equipment and ensure all food products align with quality expectations. • Train and mentor kitchen staff in sushi preparation and traditional culinary techniques. • Inspect ingredients for quality, freshness, and proper storage. • Maintain a clean, sanitized, and safe kitchen environment in compliance with food safety and health regulations. • Engage with customers, providing exceptional service when required. Requirements: • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in sushi preparation or Asian cuisine. • Extensive knowledge of Asian sushi-making techniques and traditional flavors. • Availability to work 40-55 hours per week, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays. • Flexibility to work across a rotating 7-day roster, including Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a proactive attitude. • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team. • Valid work rights in New Zealand. Preferred: • Qualifications in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related field. • Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
