Position: Bakers / Pastry Chefs – Lunchbar Eighty8 Location: Otahuhu, Auckland Remuneration / Hours of Work: $25-30 p/hr, full-time (depending on experience). Business hours: Mon - Sat: 5.00 am – 4.000pm AND Sun: CLOSED Rostered work over 6 days will be between these hours: Monday to Saturday, between 3.30 am – 4 pm Minimum guaranteed hours: 30 per week; hourly rate plus holiday pay and paid sick leave. Max. hours not exceeding 50 per week. BAKERS / PASTRY COOKS are required for the busy Otahuhu Lunchbar. Ideal candidates must have a positive work attitude to deal with customers from various nationalities; knowledge and experience using baking equipment, know how to bake, make slices, muffins, donuts, pies, bread rolls, custards, sauces, chocolates, pastries, desserts, decoration; handling seafood and meat as part of the job. Food safety is a priority. Skills must include: Bake different kinds of bread, muffins, and sweets within the time frame. Should be able to bake using meat and seafood Must have competency in handling seafood to know if it has spoiled under certain temperatures Should be able to load, unload, depan, cool, empty, clean, and grease baking trays and other cooking equipment Order ingredients and supplies, gauging average daily consumption Keep all equipment clean and well-maintained Excellent hand-to-eye coordination Clear team communication Food handling and hygiene Follow the Roster, start and finish on time Prioritise food safety Must be able to deal with customers in a friendly and outgoing manner Applicants must have: At least 3 years of relevant experience working as a Baker / Pastry Cook in a commercial setting OR a NZ Level 4 qualification in Baking plus 1 yr experience Job Description - Duties and Responsibilities: Check the quality of raw ingredients Measure and mix ingredients for various pastries and confections Knead, roll, mould, and shape the dough for the pastry Prepare pastry fillings Bake a wide variety of items including bread, rolls, pies, cakes, cookies, pastries, donuts and more. Prepare custards, sauces, chocolates, muffins, and sandwiches Icing, Decorating, desserts, pastries, and cakes Developing new recipes for seasonal menus that include seafood and/or meat Prepare customer orders and serve customers Follow work safety procedures. Work with a positive attitude and follow company policies Candidates should be a NZ resident or citizen or hold work rights in NZ.
