20This was in a house we purchased off an elderly couple and is a charming time capsule that sounds excellent. The Garrard 301 is a grease bearing model, serial number 22473 which is from around 1957, with a SME 3009 series II arm and period Shure MM cartridge. The old chap was the original owner. There is amazing original documentation and receipts, installation drawings and templates, a spare Shure cartridge and SME headshell, Garrard spindle grease (still usable), Garrard tracking weight gauge, and tons of cleaning accessories. By the look of some of the bits and pieces, he was running a Quad amp in this lovely period rich wood HiFi cabinet, but that must have expired and was not with it. I've used it periodically with a modern pre-power amp combo and it gives nothing away to my Rega, although it does run slow for a while if it has not been used for a few months. I have not touched it and I think it probably just needs the spindle greased and the arm set-up checked. This would be a spectacular period combo with the right amp nestled into the cabinet. Pick-up is in Wanaka, and I will deliver for free to anywhere in Central Otago, Dunedin, or Invercargill.
