About UsTe Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH) is a Ngāti Kahungunu mandated, kaupapa Māori health and social services organisation that has supported whānau and community for over 40 years. Underpinning it all are our organisational values – Kotahitanga, Whakamana, Kaitiakitanga and Whānaungataunga, which are woven through everything we do. About the RoleAs a Kai Ararau your focus will be on the Nga Pakiaka o te Aroha Service (elder abuse), you will champion the health and wellbeing of kaumātua through education, outreach, and support. This is a 12 month fixed term role, 30 hours per week. In this role, you will work closely with kaumātua, whānau, and the wider community to promote safety, respect, and wellbeing. You will: * Facilitate regular sessions for kaumātua and whānau on elder abuse prevention * Attend community events and expos to raise awareness of kaupapa Māori services * Conduct in home visits to provide education and build trust * Collaborate with partners to deliver on site education sessions * Engage with rest homes to introduce and explain our elder abuse service * Lead digital literacy workshops to help kaumātua access online resources * Stay informed on elder abuse issues and support kaimahi with best practices What We're Looking For * Strong communication and relationship-building skills * Ability to educate and motivate whānau * Understanding of tikanga Māori and willingness to learn te reo * Computer literacy and confidence with digital tools * Non-smoker and committed to a healthy lifestyle * Physically active and confident public speaker * A full, clean driver's licence This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of kaumātua while working within a kaupapa Māori context.
